WHO WE ARE
Broncho Barkers, UCO's Therapy Dog Program, officially launched in Spring 2019 within UCO's Health Promotion office. Broncho Barkers exists to aid in overall positive well-being through human animal connection. This allows for a de-stressing opportunity for our students, staff and faculty. Research shows that just 10 minutes with a therapy animal can significantly decrease the stress hormone cortisol. When a student is well out of the classroom, they can give their best effort in of the classroom.
Broncho Barkers are employed by UCO and are a therapy dog team with a UCO faculty or staff member.
We currently have two dogs on campus, Kevin the Greyt and Sadie. We hope through this effort, we are able to expand our program by inviting more therapy dog teams on our campus and impact more students.
WHY YOUR GIFT MATTERS
Students are faced with many life stressors including a full course load, full time jobs, family, social life, and other responsibilities calling for their attention. Through Broncho Barkers, we are able to give students the opportunity to connect with a therapy dog to ensure their stress levels are decreased.
PLEASE SHARE
We would love to reach our funding goal to have more therapy dogs at UCO. Please share our project with your friends, family and UCO acquaintances!
