Reflections on 2024 and Momentum for 2025

2024 Season in Review
The 2024 rowing season was marked by growth, resilience, and strong performances that showcased the team's hard work and dedication. The team faced challenges with determination and forged ahead, delivering solid results against tough competition. The season's highlight was undoubtedly the GNAC and NCAA Championships, where the team demonstrated grit and teamwork, capping off the year with pride.

Throughout the fall season, the team's commitment to consistent training and skill development laid the foundation for future success. Notable regattas were valuable opportunities to gauge progress, refine strategies, and build team cohesion.

Looking Ahead to 2025
With the 2025 season fast approaching, UCO Rowing is setting its sights on achieving even greater success. The upcoming schedule is packed with exciting races that will test the team's endurance, strategy, and synergy:
  • March 8, 2025: Duals Against K-State and Tulsa
This early-season matchup will provide a key benchmark as the team begins the competitive season. Facing familiar regional DI teams, K-State and Tulsa, UCO will aim to establish dominance and build momentum.
  • March 14-15, 2025: Creighton and MSOE
This two-day event will test the team’s ability to maintain high performance across consecutive races. Competing against strong opponents, Creighton and MSOE, will demand tactical precision and mental resilience.
  • March 22, 2025: Falcon Regatta
A fan-favorite event, the Falcon Regatta promises thrilling action and an opportunity for UCO to showcase its competitive edge. This regatta will also provide insights into how the team's mid-season training translates into race performance.
  • April 5, 2025: UCO Invite
As hosts, UCO will look to capitalize on home-course advantage and put forth their best effort in front of supporters. The UCO Invite will be a pivotal race for the team and a chance to fine-tune strategies ahead of postseason competition.
  • May 17, 2025: GNAC Championships
The GNAC Championships represent the culmination of the season’s efforts and a chance to contend for conference titles. Building on last year’s performance, UCO is poised to make an even stronger showing.
Key Objectives for 2025
  • Consistency in Training: Maintaining a disciplined training regimen focused on endurance, power, and technique will be critical. The team’s dedication to Steven Seiler's training principles ensures a scientific approach to peak performance.
  • Building Depth: With a strong recruiting push in junior rowing programs, UCO is working to enhance its roster depth and bring in promising talent for the upcoming seasons.
  • Cohesion and Leadership: As team dynamics evolve, fostering leadership and unity will ensure seamless collaboration on and off the water.
Final Thoughts
UCO Rowing enters the 2025 season with excitement and ambition. The experiences gained in 2024 have set a strong foundation, and the team is ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. With hard work, determination, and a clear vision, UCO is poised to make waves in the collegiate rowing community.
