HELP US GROW THE UCO HOCKEY COMMUNITY
The mission of the UCO Hockey program is to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes, encouraging them to excel in the classroom and on the ice. We are committed to increasing our outreach and community partners in the Oklahoma hockey community and the greater UCO community. Your gifts go directly to the team to provide additional support for equipment and travel. This challenge is all about donors, not dollars! Help us reach our goal of 50 donors and check out our challenges and matches we have in store for this project:
- If we hit 25 donors, we have a donor who will match total dollars up to $250!
- If we hit our goal of 50 donors, assistant captain, 6'4 215 lb. Chris Hille will attempt figure skating with a member of the UCO Figure Skating Club and the video will be posted on UCO Hockey social media!
The UCO Hockey team first took the ice in fall 2006 under the direction of Coach Craig McAlister. In his tenure, Coach McAlister cultivated a winning tradition that brought national notoriety to the University, winning two national championships (2014-15 and 2016-17).
Coach Michael Rivera serves as the new coach, with assistants Brandon Harley and Tyler Minx. All three coaches are UCO alums and played for Coach McAlister on national championship teams. The coaches all have full-time employment in addition to volunteering their time to coach the Bronchos.
Hockey at UCO is a club sport. However, the team attracts top-tier student athletes from around the world with players from the United States, Canada, Russia, and various European countries. The Bronchos play in the Western Collegiate Hockey League of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (Division 1).
UCO has won three conference championships, three Final-Four births, played in 10 national championship tournaments, and is currently in the hunt for another national championship.
**Per ACHA guidelines, no donation can be credited to or earmarked for a specific student-athlete.
